Job Purpose
To be responsible for supporting the provision of financial budgeting and planning processes across several assigned business areas to ensure effective reporting mechanisms are in place to develop a ‘no surprise' culture. Working closely with the central Finance Office to ensure that transactional support is delivered in a highly professional, effective, and efficient manner using appropriate systems and processes to provide an accurate, timely, relevant, and reliable service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Integrated business partner for the School of Molecular Biosciences and School of Psychology and Neuroscience , actively build relationships to convey information to managers on financial performance and KPIs through the provision of specialist expertise and guidance.
2. To play a leading role in presenting analysis and commentary on the monthly financial budgeting results set against target, to appropriate management groups. This will require collaborative working with other members of the College Finance team as appropriate.
3. To take the lead and be responsible for the financial planning, budgeting reporting for all Tuition Fee activity across the College. This includes working with the Admissions team and Planning, Insight and Analytics team to deliver robust intake targets.
4. To provide support and financial direction to the Precision Medicine Innovation Centre. This includes completion of quarterly board papers, monthly financial reports and annual budgets.
5. Responsible for overview and analysis of the finances of College Endowments and Donations. Production of monthly summary and reporting for review by the Deputy Head of Finance – Reporting.
6. Completion of College balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner for review by the Deputy Head of Finance – Reporting.
7. Working closely with the Head of Finance and other members of the College Executive Team to provide guidance and expert analysis on financial inputs which will be used to inform and support delivering the college strategy.
8. To lead on project work which will include the review and evaluation of KPI data which is not primarily financial in nature but transferred to create and develop regular reports to Professional Services leads throughout the College.
9. Responsible for supporting business improvements on an ongoing basis which will involve the enhancement of financial reporting and processes.
10. To support continuous improvement both at College and Central level across the agreed business areas in terms of reviewing processes to remove duplication and wasted effort whilst maximising service quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
11. To actively promote financial awareness and encourage a culture of financial accountability across the business areas to ensure financial sustainability is central to all business activities.
12. Engage in personal, professional and career development, to enhance knowledge and skills.
13. Undertake any other duties of equivalent standing as assigned by the Head of Finance.

Essential
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles, or, Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s).
A2 Qualified or working towards qualification with a recognised CCAB accounting professional body.
A3 Comprehensive knowledge of business processes, management information systems and value drivers of management accounting.
A4 Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages

Experience
Essential:
E1 Previous financial and management accounting experience within a large, complex organisation and qualified or working towards CCAB standard.
E2 Experience of developing business cases with non-finance professionals and presenting these at board level.
E3 Experience of budgeting and strategic planning within a complex environment.
E4 Experience of working effectively within a matrix organisational structure.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7, £40,247 - £45,163 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended. Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
