ECU Center for Health Disparities is currently seeking a Population Health Research Assistant. The Center for Health Disparities is located within the Brody School of Medicine. Our mission is to reduce health disparities of vulnerable populations and disadvantaged communities across the Eastern North Carolina region through research, education, training, community engagement and outreach. The Center's affiliated faculty, staff, and community members work to reduce disparities in obesity, diabetes, cancers, and cardiovascular disease among rural, ethnic-minority, and low socioeconomic populations.

Interested in graduate students and upper-level undergraduates.

Assist in data preparation for Eastern North Carolina Mortality Trend Report. Create tables, charts and graphs using Excel. Assemble document layout in Publisher for regional mortality trend report. The student should be detail- oriented and have an interest in quantitative analysis of health data. Experience with Excel and a willingness to learn documentation preparation and layout. Student must adhere to procedures required for health data.

Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)

Currently enrolled as a student at East Carolina University, pursuing a degree related to public health, health sciences, or a related field. Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Strong organizational sills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated interest in health disparities, equity and public health issues.
