Schedule Description

DUTIES

This position provides leadership and direction in the operation of the Accessibility Services Test Centre. The Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of centre staff including the planning, scheduling, assignment and checking of work. The Supervisor is the primary representative with regards to the provision of exam supports for students with disabilities at TRU, and the lead for exams system development and administration.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides direct supervision of staff in the Accessibility Services Test Centre including participating on hiring committees and providing input into job reviews, job creation and performance.
  • Oversees and guides centre planning and scheduling, assigns work, monitors projects and reviews overall service levels.
  • Trains new staff, monitors progress and develops associated training materials and procedure manuals.
  • Coordinates the provision of service for students facing significantly complex circumstances and a variety of learning barriers.
  • Coordinates centre activities by scheduling exams, assigning invigilator(s) to each exam session, instructing invigilators on tasks, ensuring security of test materials and maintaining testing standards.
  • Liaises with TRU staff, faculty and students via email, telephone and in-person to troubleshoot issues, provides information about exam process and procedures, and reviews centre activities.
  • Reviews invigilator reports and makes academic integrity recommendations, as necessary.
  • Evaluates the delivery of services and provides the information needed to build and expand operations and modify internal procedures in response to changing demands.
  • Reviews and evaluates technology solutions to support evolving needs in the area of post-secondary assessment and accessibility.
  • Acts as lead for exams system development and administration.
  • Provides analysis and detailed reporting on exams system activities and provides recommendations for changes and improvements for future activity.
  • Designs, organizes and facilitates presentations and workshops related to assessment and/or accessibility supports and services.
  • Maintains currency in student development theory and practices.
  • Performs invigilation, reception and administrative duties of other Test Centre staff when covering breaks or absences, or during peak times.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Information Technology, or related field
  • EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years of related experience at a post-secondary institution working with students with disabilities including:
  • 2 years experience in scheduling systems and operations, or examination management
  • 2 years experience providing technology support or solutions
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

  • Excellent communication, organizational skills and professional interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Tact, diplomacy and respect of confidentiality when dealing with student information
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of people and in circumstances where individuals may be under significant stress
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff members
  • Effective research, analytical, problem-solving and planning skills
  • Knowledge in the area of information technology and assistive technology
  • Ability to prepare and deliver oral presentations
  • Proven ability to collaborate and effectively develop relationships
  • Attention to detail and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word), Outlook or similar e-mail communication system

  • The salary for the above position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879, as it presently exists.

    $34.52 - $38.35 ( CUPE Grade 10 (90% - 100%) )

    Salary rate

    Please Note: This position may be subject to a 90% salary for the first 560 hours of employment.
