Your new role

An exciting opportunity is available for an Events and Engagement Officer to join the Sport and Recreation team at Curtin University. This position is primarily responsible for assisting third party event organisers who have booked the use of the Stadium facilities whilst contributing to the marketing, engagement planning of key Sport and Recreation events and programs as noted below.

In this role, you will oversee:

Event Management:

  • Responding to venue hire enquiries and working with clients to secure bookings
  • Ensuring clients adhere to the University events requirements and submit all required documentation
  • Planning and coordination of staff to set up the event and assist throughout the event
  • Liaising with other University departments and stakeholders of upcoming third party events
  • Coordinating a small selection of internal events including VC Sports Day (in conjunction with the Sports team), annual Sport Awards and Sport and Recreation presence on campus during orientation weeks.
  • Marketing and Engagement:

  • Promotion of programs, services and facilities to students, staff and the wider community
  • Development of content for distribution through various channels including social media platforms, website and to various stakeholders
  • Contribution to and rollout of the annual Sport and Recreation marketing and promotional plan
  • Planning and coordination of on campus activations to encourage student participation communications to key stakeholders
  • Providing marketing and communications support to all areas of Sport and Recreation as required
  • The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team with the ability to develop relationships across a large organisation.
  • The ideal incumbent will have a keen interest and experience in events, a strong work ethic, excellent time management and organisational skills accompanied with the ability to meet deadlines.

During this negotiation period, appointment to this position will be under the Curtin University Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2012-2016 ( Curtin EBA ) for the duration of the term of appointment and there will be no provision for a further extension of the fixed term appointment nor the appointment to be made a continuing one under the Curtin EBA.
