About the role

Events and Communications Manager, Centre for Science and Policy (Fixed

Term)

The mission of the Centre for Science and Policy (CSaP) is to improve policy making through the more effective use of evidence and expertise. During our 15-year history, we have led the UK in building a core network of 3000 leading researchers and public policy professionals spanning academia and public service with as many again in our communications networks. Growing this network, nurturing engagement and enabling insightful outcomes requires excellent communications.

You will work with the CSaP Head of Programmes to design and implement a communications and events strategy in line with CSaP's mission and key objectives, to raise CSaP's profile and increase engagement. You will create engaging content through our newsletter, website and social media channels, and will be responsible for the promotion and delivery of high-profile events.

You will be able to take news of research, an event or a new member of the network, find the message at its heart, and project this message to good effect in line with CSaP's mission. This requires more than good copy; every communication must be designed to take us and our stakeholders forward. Constantly evaluating, analysing and improving communications to ensure their effectiveness is vital to the role.

You will be educated to Bachelor degree level or have equivalent experience. You will have experience in both events management and communications management. We're looking for a well-honed, concise and accurate journalistic writing style with experience of communicating complex information to a diverse audience. Highly-developed organisational abilities will also be needed to lead the small team delivering CSaP's annual public events. Sound judgement and finely nuanced expression are essential in our world. Knowledge of using film, photography and podcasts to communicate messages and bring stories to life would be an advantage.

This is a permanent role with limited funding available until 31 July 2027 in the first instance.

Interviews will take place week commencing 27 January 2025.
