  • About This Opportunity

    The Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining the data strategy, enterprise data architecture and roadmap for the University.

  • Providing architectural leadership and guidance to promote data quality, reliability, and accessibility to information across the University.

  • Working closely with senior leaders, business, technology, and project teams to support the design and delivery of strategic initiatives making sure they align with the data architecture principles.

  • Working closely with the UQ data community to improve the data literacy across the university.

  • The position reports to the Senior Manager, Data and Identity Services and will be required to direct other professional or technical staff on work relating to specific tasks or projects.

    Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the data strategy, plans and roadmaps including governance policies and standards to maintain data quality, security, and compliance.

  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to ensure data consistency, integrity, and accuracy.

  • Establish data integration patterns and methodologies to ensure seamless data flow across various systems and applications.

  • Assist with the implementation of data lifecycle management practices, including data security classification, data retention, archiving, and data purging.

  • Providing architectural advice and drive architectural governance across our strategic, tactical and BAU portfolios.

  • Undertake high level research to identify innovation opportunities and future trends in data, data management and all aspects of data architecture.

  • About You

    You are an experienced Enterprise Data Architect, has a passion for shaping the strategic technology agenda and can direct and guide senior stakeholders and technology teams. You are an influencer with strong comprehension, stakeholder management and communication skills.

    Essential

  • At least 5 years in a senior Data Architect role operating at a strategic/enterprise level.

  • Detailed understanding of Architecture and Data Architecture frameworks, data models and best practices and how to apply them.

  • Data strategy experience, strategic technology planning and execution, and policy development and maintenance.

  • Proven experience in defining enterprise data architectures and roadmaps, principles, and standards.

  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop original concepts and solutions and apply architectural principles, methods, and tools to business challenges.

  • Comprehensive understanding of data integration approaches.

  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, communication, time management and documentation skills.

  • Desirable

  • TOGAF or other architecture framework certification (desirable)
  • The successful candidate must have full Australian work rights and is required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
