Job Purpose
To oversee efficient day-to-day operations of Enlighten, the University of Glasgow's institutional repository in relation to:
Publications (published research material)
Theses (higher research degree theses)
Dissertations (undergraduate and taught PG dissertations)
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To supervise workflows to manage, capture, describe and preserve digitised copies of research outputs by providing a high level of administrative support to the Enlighten Team Leader, College Librarian (Scholarly Research Communications) and Assistant Director, Digital Library.
2. To act as a first point of contact for enquiries and queries for academics, students, colleagues, and members of the public. To build and maintain good relationships between service users and operations teams
3. To liaise with academics and college administrative staff, providing support and guidance on all aspects of depositing material into Enlighten: Publications, including open access requirements; to assist in developing and running overviews and training workshops.
4. To monitor material deposited in Enlighten: Publications to ensure compliance with publisher requirements on copyright and versioning, and that such deposits comply with licensing and copyright law, and funder body requirements.
5. To assign appropriate metadata to material deposited in the University's institutional repository and to carry out quality control to ensure the metadata assigned by others is reliable and accurate.
6. To assist with the supervision of Enlighten: Theses; to liaise with college staff administering the award of research degrees; provide technical support and assistance to candidates uploading their thesis to the service.
7. To train, supervise and support Enlighten staff assisting with repository and e-theses work.
8. Keep abreast of developments in Open Access and repository administration by keeping up to date on professional activity. To attend conferences and courses as required.
9. Acting as a team member within Information Services, to undertake any other duties as required.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.
Desirable:
B2 Basic knowledge of the current issues surrounding Open Access in the UK.
B3 Basic knowledge of the issues surrounding repository management, open access and scholarly communication.
Skills
Essential:
C1 Excellent IT skills, including familiarity with a range of digital formats, desktop software and web maintenance software.
C2 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
C3 Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
C4 Good organisational skills.
C5 Attention to detail and the ability to work to a high level of accuracy in all work undertaken.
C6 Initiative and judgement to resolve problems independently.

E1 Relevant work experience with the qualifications above or evidence of progression and development gained through extensive relevant work experience.

F3 Previous experience of working in higher or further education environment.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 5, £26,038 - £30,505 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
