Enhanced Early Years Practitioner (UCSP)
Description
If you are a Level three qualified Early Years Educator (or equivalent) who
is looking to join a caring, supportive, and friendly team of Practitioners in
the Heart of the University of Plymouth's campus, on a full time basis we
would welcome an application from you.
As the Enhanced Practitioner you will support the team leader to lead, coach
and motivate the staff team, working with them to ensure a consistent high-
quality service is provided to all children and families.
Central to roles within Freshlings Nursery is, providing a safe, healthy,
caring, inclusive and stimulating environment, where children are respected
and supported as individuals and encouraged to learn through play and
exploration.
Adopting a child-centred approach means that we keep each individual child in
focus when making decisions about their lives and working in partnership with
them and their families. We have a shared ethos which recognises that
safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and that this duty extends beyond
the setting, to the child's home life and elsewhere.
Key Accountabilities:
Supports the delivery and continuous development of an effective and
flexible early year's provision.
Ensures high standards of childcare are implemented throughout the
nursery.
Organises and supervises the day-to-day workflow of the team to ensure
agreed targets and standards are consistently met in the absence of a Team
leader.
Develops, motivates, and coaches the team to deliver their best providing
feedback on performance to enable continuous development.
Responds to the needs of children/parents/carers and liaise with outside
agencies as appropriate.
Supports in multiagency meetings, contributing knowledge and expertise.
Maintains a flexible approach to the work of the setting in response to
the needs of the children, families and staff. Understands that change may
take place and take remedial action.
To be responsible at all times for high standards of care and education of
children between 0-5 years of age in accordance with statutory guidance
and to be striving for best practice.
Has a detailed knowledge of the EYFS and curriculum, supporting others in
the development of their knowledge and implementing this into practice.
To ensure the EYFS and setting curriculum is followed effectively, leading
by example, to enable children to make progress and reach their full
potential.
Plans and priorities own workload and planning of activities within the
team.
Demonstrates creativity and initiative to resolve less straightforward and
unpredictable problems that arise.
Handles pastoral care issues with sensitivity as presented by
children/parents/carers/stakeholders.
Maintains accurate and effective children's records including learning
journeys and ensuring that observations are carried out to a high
standard.
Able to write IEPs and supports with SEND needs independently. Contacts
the nursery SENDCO for support when needed.
Liaises with others internally and externally to the team to pass on
information or facts necessary to complete work activities.
Responds to requests from service users and provides assistance and advice
to team members and service users with sensitivity and tact.
Ensures and supports effective implementation of Key Person procedures.
Assists and supports less experienced team members.
Moderate physical or sensory effort (lifting, carrying, and
concentration) may be required for significant periods of time.
Assists in maintaining the nursery building, resources and equipment to a
high standard.
Records information and data on databases and other systems and / or carry
out the basic investigation of facts.
Follows standard H&S guidelines and reports issues as necessary.
Has a strong knowledge of safeguarding and is able to support other staff
with their knowledge.
To maintain a positive, friendly working environment.
Ensures all activities are undertaken according to Freshlings policies,
procedures and working practices as well as the University and UCSP safety
policies.
