    Maintenance

    The Directorate of Technology, Estates and Facilities DTEF is responsible for ‘providing outstanding work, study, research facilities, and facilities to enhance the student experience, on campus and online'.

    This vacancy is to join our Estates Operations and Maintenance team which includes fully qualified and semi skilled trades colleagues.

    Role

    We are seeking skilled Electricians to operate within our friendly, supportive and multi-skilled technical team to undertake planned maintenance, installation, alteration and repair work.

    We largely operate core hours Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm, but during periods of high demand the team is expected to work flexibly to ensure continuity of the service. You will be part of an on-call rota team covering business critical issues out of hours and at weekends, with overtime paid in addition to the call out allowance for attendance on site.

    Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
  • Craft trade apprentice, trained to City and Guilds Level in the core trade or equivalent qualifications or experience. For example C&G 2381, 18th edition, C&G 2391 (or equivalent)
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations & procedures, for example COSHH and risk assessment and understanding of Electricity at work regulations
  • Demonstrable building services experience obtained within a building services environment and knowledge and ability to implement practical techniques used in relevant work area
  • Extensive experience of health and safety risk management techniques which are applicable to an estates function.
  • Ability to assess non-routine problems by suggesting solutions
  • Flexible approach to workload and hours in order to meet changing needs or circumstances
  • Evidence of upholding our behaviours as detailed within the accompanying person specification.
