Description:
If you are a Level three qualified Early Years Educator (or equivalent) who
is looking to join a caring, supportive, and friendly team of Practitioners in
the Heart of the University of Plymouth's campus, we would welcome an
application from you.
Adopting a child-centred approach means that we keep each individual child in
focus when making decisions about their lives and working in partnership with
them and their families. We have a shared ethos which recognises that
safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and that this duty extends beyond
the setting, to the child's home life and elsewhere.
Key Accountabilities:
Assists in the delivery of an effective and flexible service, contributing
to front line service as appropriate.
Makes collaborative decisions with team members about immediate work
priorities
Observe, assess and plan for children to meet their individual needs,
supporting their learning and development in the seven areas of the
EYFS/current curriculum requirements, with a balance of child initiated
and adult led activities.
To be a play partner to children, engaging in sustained shared thinking.
Undertakes the role of Key Person, producing Learning Journeys for
individuals in partnership with parents, children, carers, and colleagues.
Meets the care and welfare needs of children to a high standard.
Works in partnership with other colleagues, parents and/or carers or other
professionals/outside agencies to meet the individual needs of each child.
Follows Statutory Framework for Early Years.
Prioritises designated activities and supports team members to achieve
agreed targets and objectives
Responds to the needs of the customers/partners and escalates service
issues and queries to more experienced team members if necessary.
Solves problems that are commonly occurring and resolved by standard and
known procedures and interventions.
Follows standard H&S guidelines and report issues to senior team members
or escalate as necessary.
Adheres to safeguarding guidelines - reporting issues to appropriate team
members.
Handles pastoral care issues with sensitivity as presented by
children/parents/carers/stakeholders.
Respects confidentiality at all times.
Moderate physical effort may be required for specific periods in the role
Delivers a professional and high quality customer service.
Ensures all activities are undertaken according to Freshlings policies,
procedures and working practices as well as the University and UCSP safety
policies.
Acts in a way that demonstrates the University's and UCSP commitment to
Equality and Diversity for staff, students and partners.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week and is fixed-term to
cover a period of maternity leave which is anticipated to be until 31st March
