  • Position Summary:

    As our Disability Services Student Assistant, you will help achieve our departmental goals and provide exceptional services to the students we serve. Disability Services (DS) provides accommodations for academics and campus life to students with disabilities who register with the office. These accommodations range from providing American Sign Language interpreting services to reading tests out loud to approval of emotional support animals for the residence halls. Student assistants are an integral part of the DS team!

    Duties:

    100Works under general direction. Exercises independent judgment and decision- making and provides input in development new procedures or techniques. May involve supervision of other student employees. Examples of typical work include: working with various computer equipment and technologies related to the equipment available for loan from the department; use of computerized file/database system; network operations or troubleshooting; advance technical computer maintenance; research, writing or assisting in writing technical reports; assisting in complex technical aspects of complex projects. May be responsible for a facility, building, activity, or program. May coordinate the use of equipment, building space, or programs. Summer hours may be available in addition to academic year.Essential

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: • The applicant must have good interpersonal skills. • The applicant must demonstrate familiarity with laptop and desktop computers. • The applicant must be able to work independently and reliably meet time commitments. • The applicant must be able to read out loud clearly. • The applicant must be able to take legible notes.

    Preferred Experience & Education:

    Preferred experience: office setting and customer services.

    Required Experience & Education:

    High school GED or diploma. Applicants must be enrolled as UAF students taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.

    Salary Information:

    This is a part-time, Student Assistant 2 position; pay is $15.16 hourly
