Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this position is accountable for operational leadership, ensuring the University's Council and Executive meet its governance and reporting obligations with respect to the management of risk, compliance, and audit functions.

The position is responsible for ensuring risk management, compliance, business continuity and resilience, incident management, conduct, insurance and audit processes and activities are successfully integrated within the University's operations. Frameworks will promote appropriate behaviours as part of Curtin's values-based culture and will continually improve controls through effective monitoring, including the use of data analytics.

As a member of the Corporate Services leadership team, the position contributes to the University's mission, vision, and strategic objectives and Curtin's values-based culture.

About You

In combination with relevant qualifications, you will have extensive experience working within risk, compliance, and audit for large complex organisations with demonstrated experience influencing stakeholders.

You will possess the ability to engage and influence while translating strategy into workable solutions. Your prior experience in a high level, strategic audit, compliance, and risk role will be enhanced by a track record of establishing credibility to lead critical change management and best practice initiatives.

This role requires someone with developed critical thinking skills, backed by strong and decisive judgment, with proven understanding of the complexity and diversity of the university environment.

It is important for the right person to be a self-starter, to lead, guide and coordinate multidisciplinary staff to create an engaged high-performing team and credibility for the function. You will actively coach, mentor others, and as a people centric collaborator, your leadership will enable you to support and empower your team.
