About the role
Kellogg College has a new and exciting opportunity for a Director of Choral Music. The post holder will create, develop and be an ambassador for a new College choir. Establishing a choir at Kellogg College represents more than just a musical endeavour; it is an investment in the cultural heritage and future legacy of the College.
The post holder will be responsible for establishing and directing the College Choir; undertaking the relevant rehearsals and preparatory work for termly concerts, special events and touring; drawing up the music strategy for the College, including weekly, termly, and yearly schedule of rehearsals, services, concerts, and other engagements for the Choir. This will include recruitment, outreach, and alumni events in collaboration with the Development Office, Academic Office and other relevant stakeholders and establish and direct three concerts per year, increasing the frequency as required.
You will be joining the University of Oxford's most international college, with a unique mix of students: it is the University's leading college for students reading for degrees on a part-time basis and has a strong and vibrant body of full-time students. The College's wider academic community includes members drawn from across the full range of academic disciplines in the University.
About you
You will have proven high-level experience of inspirational choral direction and an open-minded and inclusive enthusiasm for music and music making in all its forms. You will have a high level of personal and professional skills, including strong communication skills and flexibility. You will have experience of working within teams and building teams creatively, and the ability to think strategically and motivate others. You will possess proven organisational and administrative skills, including self-discipline, the ability to work to strict deadlines and delegating effectively, and have experience of handling budgets.
