About Us

For over 30 years, the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) has been transforming lives by providing a high quality all-age service for children, teenagers and adults who require implantable hearing devices or other specialist audiology services.

We are now looking for a Director to lead the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service on a full-time basis. This is an office-based position located on the Highfield Campus.

The University of Southampton (UoS) is a Russell Group University that places in the top 100 global universities and offers a world-class array of courses from arts and humanities to medicine, engineering and physical sciences.

The Role

As Director, you will oversee the delivery of all aspects of the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service.

You will act as the CQC registered manager for the service, ensuring the provision of safe, effective and high-quality clinical care. You will also develop strategic partnerships with multiple NHS Trusts, private healthcare providers, commissioners and stakeholders, internally and externally to the University.

With the major part of your role focusing on the strategic management of the service, you will also provide senior leadership and overall general management, as well as focusing on service delivery and development. You will ensure quality assurance and governance mechanisms are in place and that the service is effectively managed from a financial standpoint.

Additionally, you will support staff performance efforts, training and wellbeing throughout the employee lifecycle, operational management aspects including contract management, commissioning, procurement and health and safety. You will also oversee a research and education programme to ensure we continue to move forward.

About You

To be considered as our Director, you will need:

- Experience of successful and sustained management in an NHS Foundation Trust or a similar organisation - Experience of managing a significant service budget - Leadership and management experience - Experience of leading capacity planning and influencing the behaviours of external bodies - Previous involvement in health service development and reconfiguration - A postgraduate qualification and/or equivalent professional qualifications and managerial experience in a clinical service
