General Summary Directs the landscape services and transportation services divisions of Facilities Management.
Major Duties
  • Directs and plans operational aspects of University Landscape Services. Establishes policies and procedures for the design and maintenance of University grounds and athletic fields.
  • Hires, trains and evaluates the performance of full-time and part-time staff.
  • Oversees labor relations. Ensures a productive and safe work environment and compliance with human resources policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Coordinates and implements plans for future facilities and renovations.
  • Manages operating budgets for landscaping and transportation services and equipment.
  • Directs and evaluates outdoor maintenance and first impression quality. Identifies and implements necessary service or operational changes.
  • Plans and manages acquisition, maintenance and disposition of equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Directs recycling, sustainability and waste reduction initiatives for the University.
  • Represents the department in University planning groups.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Five years’ relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience managing contractors or vendors.
  • Experience administering a collective bargaining agreement.

Physical requirements and working conditions
  • Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
  • Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
