The Tisch Cancer Center (TCC) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking an accomplished breast medical oncologist to join our faculty as Director for Breast Medical Oncology Clinical Research.

This is a unique opportunity to help lead and expand a rapidly growing cancer clinical trials portfolio at one of the nation's premier academic medical centers.

About the Role

The successful candidate will serve as a senior leader within the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and TCC's Cancer Clinical Investigation (CCI) Program,  working closely with the Division Chief of Hematology and Medical Oncology (Joseph Sparano, MD), Medical Director of Breast Medical Oncology (Amy Tiersten, MD), and Cancer Center Director (Ramon Parsons, MD, PhD), to expand and oversee a comprehensive breast cancer clinical trials portfolio, including phase II, phase III, and first-in-human and phase I clinical trials. Participation in in first-in-human and other early-phase clinical trials may in selected cases leverage existing infrastructure of the Early Phase Trials Unit (EPTU) and partnership with EPTU leadership and staff. 

Responsibilities

This individual will:

  • Expand the existing portfolio of pharmaceutical and NCI-sponsored phase II-III therapeutic clinical trials
  • Establish and grow an innovative, investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical-sponsored early-phase clinical trials program in breast cancer
  • Collaborate with translational and basic scientists to accelerate bench-to-bedside drug development
  • Mentor junior faculty, fellows, and trainees in clinical and translational research
  • Maintain an active clinical practice in breast medical oncology
  • Partner with industry, cooperative groups, and philanthropic partners to expand trial access and funding
  • Contribute to a culture of scientific rigor, collaboration, and innovation across the TCC, with a focus on breast cancer

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with:

  • MD or MD/PhD with board certification/eligibility in Medical Oncology
  • A record of NIH and/or industry-funded clinical and translational research
  • A strong publication record and national/international reputation in breast oncology and/or drug development
  • Experience mentoring junior investigators and building collaborative research teams
  • Eligibility for a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

The Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Center is an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center that is committed to transforming cancer care through excellence in patient care, scientific discovery, education, and innovation. The TCC Cancer Research Support. Unit (CRSU) provides a robust infrastructure to support the conduct of cancer clinical trials.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary and startup package will be highly competitive and commensurate with experience and academic accomplishment. Mount Sinai offers a comprehensive benefits package and substantial institutional support for research. 

The salary range is from 375K to 475K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits) depending upon experience rank.
