The University Swinburne University of Technology is a world-class university, defined and inspired by technology and innovation, and renowned for strong industry and community engagement. Swinburne is ranked in the top one per cent of universities worldwide (QS World University Rankings 2024) and was recognised among the world's top 250 universities for 2024 and the world's top 50 young universities for 2023 by Times Higher Education. We have an esteemed reputation for world-leading research, with our researchers collaborating with industry, communities and government to co-create the technology solutions our world needs.

Located across three campuses in Melbourne's eastern suburbs – Hawthorn, Croydon and Wantirna – we are dual-sector, offering tertiary education for higher education as well as vocational education and training. Additionally, our footprint extends to Sarawak, Malaysia, as well as a number of international partnerships and a diverse range of qualifications offered online through Swinburne Online and Open Universities Australia.

Swinburne is the prototype of a new and different university – one that is truly of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. With a vision to bring people and technology together to build a better world, our people are driven by a shared purpose: to create tomorrow's technology and the human capital and talent required for a digital, tech-rich future. We want a Swinburne qualification to place our students ahead of others because they hold the best credentials you can have in a tech-led world.

The Role Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and President, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, External Engagement (DVC EE) provides strategic leadership of the engagement connections and activities relating to our prospective students, alumni, donors, national and international collaborations and partnerships, global mobility, media and other key market stakeholders. As a member of the Senior Executive, the DVC EE will contribute to strengthening professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, working collaboratively and collegially across functions to achieve key objectives.

The primary objective will be to set the strategic agenda for External Engagement to further position Swinburne as a leading institution at the cutting edge of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. Intrinsic to this will be the requirement to grow revenue, relationships and reputation for Swinburne and to build a strong culture of commercial excellence focused on the University's strategic goals. The role will engage with stakeholders to enhance and develop the international activities of the University and ensure entry standards and recruitment strategies support the University's growth, goals and targets.

We seek a visionary leader with a proven track record of delivering strategic outcomes, particularly in student recruitment and international partnership diversification. The ideal candidate will embody Swinburne's values, fostering collaboration and innovation to realise our collective vision.
