Salary: UH5 £28,081 pa with potential to progress to £31,387pa on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield, University of Hertfordshire. The post holder may occasionally be required to work from other Student Administration (Ask Herts) Hubs, including working from the de Havilland campus (Hatfield). Hybrid/remote working is applicable outside of key semester A and B registration activity.

Main duties and responsibilities

As Deputy team leader in the Student Enquiries and Enrolment Team you will support the registration of all students throughout the year, in line with the team's registration & enrolment procedures, contributing to a positive student experience and efficient operations. You will assist with the gathering and inputting of student data in order to meet statutory deadlines and to support the on-going improvements to data quality for accountable data sets.

You will be responsible for the University's change of student registration status procedure in partnership with Schools, the Student Information and Planning team and Student Enquiries and Enrolment Team colleagues; informing external bodies, as appropriate. You will deputise for the Team Leader as required, assist in the supervision of Enrolment Administrators and Casuals, maintain a steady flow of work to meet stipulated deadlines and support the training and development of the team.

As a Deputy you will monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the team and collaborate with colleagues across the university to improve enrolment related systems and processes as and when required. You will be a key contact and support the team leader in maintaining relationships across stakeholders in Enrolment processes and support the work of colleagues across the university in enrolment adjacent activities. You will develop a thorough knowledge of the IT systems and their interface with other systems used within the Student Administration service. You will develop a thorough understanding of enrolment and student record procedures appropriate to the team's portfolio.

Skills and experience required

You will be able to demonstrate previous experience of working in an administrative role in a complex organisation. You will have good attention to detail including when using large data sets and the ability to learn and understand complex policies, procedures and processes. You will have a positive, can-do attitude and be a good team player with a strong ethos of cooperation and collegiality with a focus on creating and delivering a positive student experience. You'll be a good oral and written communicator, with the ability to work to a high standard when under pressure and with frequent interruptions. You will demonstrate negotiating skills and the ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.

Qualifications required

Educated with a minimum of A-levels (or equivalent qualifications) or proven experience.
