Job Purpose
As a member of the Undergraduate Medical School's Professional Services leadership team, the post holder will lead a team of assessment administrators to deliver all aspects of MBChB assessment in close collaboration with MBChB Head of Assessment, academic, clinical and professional staff. To give expert advice on successful delivery of the Medical Licencing Assessment within the evolving framework of the General Medical Council.
The post holder will act as a key assessment interface between academic and administrative staff across the School, College and the NHS (who contribute to the UMS). This post reports directly to the Undergraduate School Manager and requires a high level of personal initiative, responsibility, and autonomy.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead the provision of assessment administration for the School to ensure efficient running of the MBChB programme. This role requires detailed knowledge and experience of working in undergraduate medical education, enabling the post holder to lead on assessment delivery from the multi-faceted perspectives of timetabling, University and GMC regulations, student records and progression, external assessment platforms, working across the School's interface with the NHS.
2. In collaboration with the MBChB Head of Assessment, OSCE Leads and Undergraduate Medical School's senior team, make a major contribution to the annual planning of the MBChB assessment timetable, including strategic planning with particular reference to national policy and regulatory requirements, and the local implementation of University policy.
3. Take a leading role in the development of policies and practices to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of assessment delivery, taking account of all stakeholder requirements and available resources.
4. Lead and develop a high performing team of assessment administrators to provide and enhance the support experience for staff and students, and ensuring secure delivery of multiple high-stakes, multi-site assessments each year.
5. Contribute to the administration of quality assurance processes relating to undergraduate medical education, including programme reviews, accreditations, and other quality assurance exercises. Advise the Head of MBChB Assessment and other course Leads to ensure the University Regulations and Codes of Practice are followed.
6. Responsible for the management of student assessment data in MyCampus and on external platforms including relationship-building with internal and external bodies to facilitate resolution of high level problems.
7. Make a leading contribution to the meetings and business of the Medical Assessment Committee, MBChB Operational Management Committee and related meetings as appropriate.
8. Represent the School effectively at meetings/workshops/training events/conferences to keep up to date with developments, to gain and share information, including best practice, expertise and working practices in the higher education context, and contribute to College and University-wide initiatives.
9. To undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the School Manager or Head of Professional Services.

Essential:
A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework Level 9 (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4) or equivalent and experience of personal development in a similar or related role.
OR
A2 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary professional knowledge and management skills in a similar or number of different specialist roles.

B1 Detailed knowledge of undergraduate medical education, its national drivers, and stakeholders on a national basis.

E1 Experience of managing a busy administration team (preferably within HE).
E2 Experience of business partnering to support senior staff and develop strategies.

F1 Experience in process reviews and continuous improvement.
F2 Experience of managing teaching activities within an HE context. This may include experience of delivery of UG/PG programmes.
F3 Experience of working with administrative systems used within Glasgow Medical School (including MyCampus, VALE, Moodle, Risr, the MSC-AA ExamWrite Authentication System, NHS Education Scotland ePortfolio).
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7, £40,247 - £45,163 per annum.
The interviews for this post will be held on Friday 13th December 2024.
