The Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford, is seeking a Deputy IT Manager for Infrastructure to join the IT Team on a permanent basis.

Based in central Oxford, the successful candidate will be reporting the IT Manager and be responsible for the successful development and operation of the fundamental IT infrastructure upon which the Department and its academic activities depends. This will include network, servers, storage and other facilities relevant to the department's work. Much of the work will need to be carried out without direct supervision and a self-starter would thrive in this environment.

The role will have primary responsibility in the department for management of its data assets and the data management practices of those using departmental IT facilities. The post will involve managing quite a lot of change of a team of system administrators. Inspiring, motivating, and leading this team will be vital to its success.

It is essential that the post-holder would have knowledge intellectual capacity, reasoning and analytical skills equivalent to those of a graduate in a numerate subject. It is expected that the successful candidate has strong customer service skills, experience of managing IT systems and staff, leading and delivering results by encouraging a team-based approach.
