Would you like to work in a dynamic and service-focussed Finance and Procurement Team, supporting the University in its mission to Transform Lives, creating knowledge, innovations and solutions that have a real impact on people's lives?

In this role, you will lead, manage and develop the financial reporting and compliance service. This will involve providing specialist support for financial transactions across the university, ensuring the data integrity of finance systems, compliance with external regulation and internal policies and managing the external audit process.

This is a great opportunity to contribute at a senior level to the implementation of the University Strategy. Data integrity of finance systems and compliance with external regulation and internal policies is key in enabling the successful delivery of our strategy. You will find that the work is varied and interesting, with no two days ever the same.

You'll have significant experience of leading a financial accounting function, contributing to the strategic development of financial reporting and compliance activities across a large organisation, as well as preparation of year end accounts and the accompanying external audit process. From this, you will be able to demonstrate a high level of technical competence and strong communication skills.

In order to thrive, the University needs to be financially sustainable, and Finance and Procurement provide invaluable support, ensuring that it has high- quality finance-related reporting and advice to enable it make decisions for the long-term for the benefit of the institution. Whether it's ensuring the University collects its income correctly, paying bursaries to students, or costing up new research proposals, the Finance and Procurement Team is involved across a breadth of activities.

The Financial Reporting and Compliance Team covers a broad range of areas including statutory financial reporting, cash flow forecasting and treasury management and external regulatory compliance. We advise people across the University on a wide range of topics where financial policies, procedures and controls need to be considered.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.
