About the Role
A 1-year fixed-term teaching and research appointment in English literature, with a core focus on bibliography and the history of the book, is available for an outstanding academic at an early stage of their career. The appointee will be expected to play a key role in the delivery of the Faculty's MSt programmes, delivering the core research skills course for the 1830-1914, 1900-present, and American strands as well as contributing substantially to the material texts course for the World Literature strand. These courses are compulsory for all students, introducing them to the methodology and theory of bibliography, manuscript studies, textual scholarship, and book history.
About You
You will hold a doctorate in English literature, with a strong research and publication record in bibliography or modern book history appropriate to your career stage. You will have experience of graduate teaching and supervision, and will possess sufficient specialist knowledge to supervise independent research projects at both undergraduate and master's level. You will have the ability to manage your own research and administrative activities, and will be an excellent communicator.
