Grade 8 (£45,585 - £54,395 p.a.) Depending on experience

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Database administration applications and services, along with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

You will be an experienced Database Administrator (SQL Server, Oracle), responsible for the management and support of our Database estate, it's operation and reliability. You will lead the DBA team within Application Support in IT Services. You will be responsible for leading, managing and maintaining databases and ensuring consistency in production, test and development environments.

You will work with IT leadership, technical colleagues, our Program Management Office and wider University stakeholders to help manage and deliver solutions that achieve business objectives with a focus on continuous service improvement and infrastructure stability. You'll be a technical escalation point and display role model behaviour in the resolution of user incidents, requests, problem management and knowledge transfer.

You will work closely with teams across IT, including support, development and infrastructure. You will direct capacity planning, updates to production systems, data platform configuration, design, data migration, performance monitoring and tuning, security management and scheduled maintenance plans in accordance with change management processes.

To be successful in this role you should have experience of both SQL Server DBA and Oracle, as well as having communication and organisational skills and experience of leading a technical team.
