About the role

La Trobe University is seeking a talented and experienced Data Modeller to join our dynamic Data and Analytics team. This role is essential for the creation and maintenance of Enterprise Data Models, ensuring the highest standards in data modelling practices, and supporting the implementation of our Modern Data Platform. You will work closely with various teams across the university to translate business needs into robust data models, contributing to strategic data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy through best practices.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement data strategies and build data flows.
  • Maintain metadata and ensure standardized naming conventions.
  • Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts.
  • Evaluate data models and databases for variances and discrepancies.
  • Provide expert advice and consultancy to achieve high intellectual standing.
  • Your profile:

  • Degree in a relevant field with extensive experience, or equivalent alternate combination of knowledge, training, and experience.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems using theoretical and professional knowledge.
  • Strong experience with data modelling tools (e.g., Azure Resource Management tools).
  • Certified expertise in MS SQL Server and MS Azure data technologies.
  • Proficiency in visualization tools like MS PowerBI.
  • Experience with SAP WEBi Reports and SAP Universe Design.
