Fixed term contract for 2 years, full time

We are seeking a Data Manager to manage complex data and information, enabling our strategies for fostering outstanding research and impact. This role plays a pivotal part in managing data for faculty members and research staff, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance across multiple databases. As the Data Manager, you will be responsible for the collection, entry, and cleansing of data crucial for the faculty database (Academ), the University publications database (Symplectic Elements), and the teaching planning database (Creatrix). You will collaborate with the Research Office team, emphasising the importance of data management in research and assisting with Data Protection Impact Assessments when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely collection of data from various processes, validating and cleansing data as needed.
  • Regularly audit data to maintain integrity and quality, resolving anomalies.
  • Serve as a superuser for the databases, providing guidance to team members and updating data in Academ.
  • Identify reporting requirements for faculty and research staff, producing dashboards and reports.
  • Develop and provide training for DPhils/postdocs and act as a point of contact for research data-related queries.
  • You should have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. You should possess strong attention to detail and reasoning skills, along with prior experience in writing and implementing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Data Management Plans.
