This is an exciting opportunity to join our Cyber Security team as we begin to implement the next phase of our multi-layered cyber defence environment at Kingston University. Our vision is for IT to be a valued business partner, providing innovative secure services to 17,000 students and 2000 staff. As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will be involved in all aspects of cloud security within the organisation, operation and support of key security systems and services that underpin the protection of Kingston's digital services, infrastructure, data and users.
As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will use your extensive expertise to help maintain and secure our environment. You will contribute to the day-to-day management of Information and Cyber Security operations. You will also work closely with IT teams to secure the technology and develop/update security standards and policies to safeguard our digital services, ensuring they are secure and fit for purpose enabling the University to deliver its strategy.
The PersonYou will be responsible for the day-to-day system administration of the cybersecurity systems and services (both cloud and on-prem) to ensure University IT assets and systems are secure and compliant (physical, user and data). The role will support the management, maintenance of core threat protection tools and associated infrastructure to mitigate risk and protect against security vulnerabilities, whilst helping with educating our business on cybersecurity best practices for cloud computing and contributing to the creation of security solutions that allow our business to implement that best practice easily and by default. Working with stakeholders across related disciplines you will contribute to efforts to integrate our cloud security solutions and toolchain with our enterprise security capabilities.
You will bring to the role extensive, relevant knowledge and experience of IT best practices including proven experience in managing enterprise security platforms, highly developed IT security management and in-depth technical skills. You should have the ability to assess information systems processes, IT services, and system threats and solve logical problems, with experience in network and system issues. You will bring knowledge of systems, endpoints end- user security, compliance standards and techniques.
