Applications are sought for a part-time crystal growth technician in the group of Prof. Suchitra Sebastian (www. quantum-materials.phy.cam.ac.uk). The role will include carrying out routine crystal growth methods using the chemical vapour transport method. The successful candidate will maintain and operate the horizontal tube furnaces used for chemical vapour transport, which are located in the Maxwell Centre. This role will support experimental research; samples grown by the role-holder will be characterised by researchers using the AMCS (Advanced Materials Characterisation Suite) based in the Maxwell Centre. Work will be performed in the Sebastian Laboratory in the Maxwell Centre, University of Cambridge.
Applicants will have an undergraduate scientific or engineering degree, or equivalent scientific background. Candidates should have demonstrable practical laboratory experience. The position is available immediately.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 year in the first instance. The position is part-time at 0.4FTE.
