Job Summary

Responsible for providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College.

Essential Functions

Assist students with academic advising, goal setting, career exploration, program selection, and vocational choices.

Assist in implementing the new student orientation and the registration advancement programs.

Teach classes and seminars in the area of human development.

Participate in implementing a counseling program to assist students in resolving institutional conflicts such as class attendance, course withdrawal, academic progress, or other student-related matters.

Prepare degree plans, transfer credit evaluations, student petitions, graduation applications, and Veterans Affairs correspondence.

Prepare routine correspondence and maintain student records required by the College.

Act as a liaison with faculty, departments, and local agencies to provide information on programs, services and registration.

Assist in training subordinate workers.

Participate in community and high school recruiting efforts to promote the College.

Participate in all areas of divisional and departmental responsibility, such as proposing program projects and exhibiting leadership in their implementation; participate on committees and work with faculty to accomplish the goals of the department, discipline, and the College.

Assist with such activities as collection and interpretation of research.

Contribute to the governance of the College through active service by participating in meetings and committees.

Participate in faculty orientation sessions and professional development seminar activities. Responsible for professional development, awareness, and growth.

Acknowledge and support the College's Mission and Objectives.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications;

1. Master's Degree in Counseling or a Master's Degree with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Counseling or Guidance.

NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

2. Experience as a professional counselor.

3. Experience/ability to work as a counselor at the community college level.

4. Experience/ability to incorporate technology into the counseling environment.

Special Conditions:

1. The El Paso Community College is building a pool of Applicants for part- time faculty. Faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by- semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the District. EPCC accepts application materials year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Part-time faculty hiring is based on college need. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. This pool will be accessed when an opening arises. Your application will remain active for approximately one (1) year from July 2023 to June 2024. After this time, you will need to re-apply if you are still interested in remaining a part of the pool.

2. This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College's policies and procedures.

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework.

Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.
