About the position
This position sits within the Student Experience and Employability, Student
Communications team. The team oversees the digital experience of students and
works closely with departments across the University to support the delivery
of high-quality user experience and communications.
The Student Communications team is responsible for the development,
maintenance and provision of:
Bespoke and bulk direct student communications.
High quality information resources via a variety of communication
channels.
Support and advice to departments about communications to students.
The team utilises a variety of communication channels, including:
Email
CRM (Standard Text and FAQs)
Direct SMS
Social media
Chatbot
The Student Communications team provides advice about student communications
and digital experience to areas across the University. Duties for this
position include:
Plan and edit written communications, for distribution via web and digital
channels, that are informative, accessible and focused on the student
experience.
Build, test, and publish web content including web pages and email
communications.
Maintain and review CMS content (web and Intranet) on a rolling basis.
Create engaging digital content for social media, web and digital channels
that:
Aligns with core principles of writing for the web (e.g. being concise, well-structured and accessible, using plain English).
Is optimised for readability.
Tailors content to suit the delivery channel and meet the information needs of specific audiences.
Is accurate and aligned to internal and external policies and procedures.
Maintenance of the University's student facing chatbot, including:
Macro Conflict resolution
Leveraging data to generate insights to continually improve the operation of the chatbot (including liaison with subject matter experts)
Ongoing maintenance of source materials accessed by the chatbot to ensure quality control
Maintaining relevant training materials (manuals, processes etc)
Revising and creating dialogue flows.
To be successful, you will have:
A degree with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination
of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
Proven experience with web content management systems (CMS) (Squiz
Matrix preferred), Electronic Direct Mail (EDM) systems (including
Adobe Campaign and Campaign Monitor) and digital production tools and
software (such as Adobe Creative Suite). Ability to troubleshoot HTML
and CSS issues.
Experience in producing content within brand guidelines, including
copywriting and communication development and management across a range of
channels including web, social media and email.
Demonstrated expertise in creating and editing content for web and digital
channels. Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated experience managing the activities of self, including the
ability to set priorities and monitor workflows within own area of
responsibility.
