  • About the Role Swinburne University is seeking a Coordinator, Researcher Development to support the design, delivery, and coordination of research training programs for HDR candidates, supervisors, and ECRs.

    Reporting to the Dean, Graduate Research, this role involves sourcing cost- effective training providers, conducting research on national offerings, and preparing detailed reports and recommendations. Additionally, you will manage the administrative aspects of training programs, maintaining an annual events calendar, ensuring up-to-date online content, and liaising with stakeholders for effective program delivery.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in coordinating training or events, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to supporting researcher development.

    About You To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing events, including seminars, workshops and conferences
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse problems and identify solutions that might require adaptation of future planning, organisational details and budgeting as part of a continuous process improvement
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to enable the incumbent to liaise effectively with staff, students and the public and to generate high quality written material
  • High level organisational and self-management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, plan administrative tasks effectively, work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent information technology skills, e.g. experience with databases, web-based systems, Wiki management, electronic newsletters, social media
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to work co-operatively within a Team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the operations of a tertiary education institution including organisational structures, governance and committee functions, policies and procedures
  • Qualifications A degree with substantial subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise in administrative fields; or an equivalent combination or relevant experience and/or education/training. A sound knowledge of the Australian tertiary education context, particularly in relation to research education and research administration.
