Start of employment earliest possible start date, temporaryWe are looking for a highly motivated Computational Biologist / Data Scientist to join an interdisciplinary team studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms of human kidney development and disease at the University of Zurich.
Our research combines functional genomics, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, large-scale clinical datasets, statistical modelling, and machine learning. The position offers the opportunity to work across experimental and clinical research, spanning genetic screens in human kidney organoids, spatial transcriptomics of patient biopsies, and the analysis of large clinical cohorts.
Your responsibilities
You will contribute to both computational research and the development of data infrastructure, including:- Analysis of single-cell and spatial transcriptomic datasets
- Integration of molecular, spatial, histological, and clinical data
- Establishment and management of large-scale clinical research databases, including data harmonization, quality control, and longitudinal data integration
- Statistical analysis of clinical cohorts, including identification of factors associated with disease progression and treatment response
- Development and application of machine-learning and predictive modelling approaches
- Integration of molecular and clinical data to identify biomarkers and disease-associated regulatory programs
- Development of reproducible computational workflows and contribution to experimental and clinical study design
- Presentation and publication of results in collaboration with molecular biologists, nephrologists, and clinicians
Your profile
We are looking for a scientist with a PhD or equivalent degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, statistics, data science, genomics or a related field. You should have:
