  • About the role

    We are seeking a Communication Manager to contribute to one of the largest changes to higher education in Australia over the past 30 years and help shape the new Adelaide University. You will work for the University of South Australia and be based in the Integration Management Office (IMO).

    The Integration Management Office (IMO) has established functional areas which are referred to as Domains. Each Domain is responsible for executing tasks and producing deliverables that are crucial to the establishment of the new Adelaide University.

    As the Communication Manager you will work with relevant project teams within the IMO, Vice Chancellors, Senior Executives and relevant cross-functional teams within the IMO and across The University of South Australia (UniSA) and The University of Adelaide (UoA), to provide expert strategic advice on, and project leadership of program milestone and decision communication, transition updates and narratives, and change communications. It will help manage the transition narrative and ensure current university communities are taken on the transition journey.

    This role will focus on internal audiences (staff and current students); however, it will work closely with the relevant Domains within the Integration Management Office, including the Market and Partner Engagement Domain, for external audience communication related to the transition process.

    Core Responsibilities

  • Conceive, research, write, edit and critically analyse a range of communication materials
  • Deliver strategic communications planning and advisory to the IMO, including Domain functions supporting the creation of Adelaide University
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the transition narrative for relevant project communication channels not limited to intranet, Staff newsletters, Adelaide University website, etc.
  • Provide oversight of university staff engaged in content development to ensure a consistent tone of voice and appropriate use of messaging
  • Essential Skills and Experience

  • Expert written and verbal communications skills including experience in writing and editing content and presenting to and engaging with stakeholders
  • Experience in the strategic planning, delivery and evaluation of a broad range of integrated marketing campaigns for a variety of audiences
  • Proven experience and demonstrated achievement in leading and managing multiple communication projects that involve a range of stakeholders to achieve quality outcomes
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to in manage conflicting priorities and short-term deadlines
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills together with experience in relating to and influencing managers and negotiating with staff across all levels of an organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis and interpretation of data and statistics and preparation of high-level management reports
