Position Summary Information

Job Goal

To fully support the mission of Northeast Iowa Community College through the functions of teaching, scholarship, and service. To provide effective instruction to ensure academic programming attains student learning outcomes and prepares students for successful transition into the workforce or transfer to a post-secondary institution. To carry out assigned responsibilities to ensure academic programs are sustainable and aligned with accreditation standards.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a master's degree in English, Fine Arts, Literature, Communications, or a master's degree with a combination of these qualifying fields that specifically include a minimum of six graduate credit hours in English, Fine Arts, Literature, Communications, and 12 graduate credit hours in one or more areas of Creative Writing, Technical Writing, Journalism, Mass Media, English Education, Drama, Speech, Theatre, Rhetoric, and/or Linguistics.

Primary courses assigned will be scheduled onsite face-to-face at the NICC Calmar Campus and/or at area high schools and NICC Centers. Courses assigned may include: Composition I and II, Introduction to Literature, Multicultural Literature, American Literature, Workplace Communications, and/or other English and Communications courses as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching is a core activity of the College and all faculty members are expected to achieve excellence in this role.
