WA Data Science Innovation Hub

The WA Data Science Innovation Hub (WADSIH) is dedicated to keeping Western Australia ahead in the digital revolution by enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) and data science uptake, education, training, and awareness. By serving as a vital link between industry, government, and academia, WADSIH connects resources and capabilities to propel AI and data science applications forward in WA. WADSIH is jointly funded by the Government of Western Australia's New Industries Fund and Curtin University.

Your new role

We are seeking a Science Communications and Content Coordinator to support the team by engaging in scientific communication and content creation activities surrounding AI and data science. In this role you will work at the forefront of digital innovation by creating engaging and visually appealing content on new and evolving technologies with the aim of further promoting WADSIH as a thought-leader in the AI and data science field.

This role is a fixed term 2-year contract (possibility of extension), with the option to work either part time (minimum of 4 days) or full time, offering flexible hours and adaptable working arrangements.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage WADSIH's social media presence by developing strategies and crafting visually appealing content to enhance brand visibility.
  • Developing tools and visualisations to help explain AI concepts.
  • Conceptualise, script, produce, and edit engaging short-form videos that align with brand identity, while exploring new and creative storytelling approaches.
  • Prepare materials for media agencies and coordinate with the University's Corporate Communications team to handle media inquiries.
  • Stay updated on new AI trends and technologies and be open to learning new skills.
  • We are looking for (the ideal candidate):

    High performing and highly motivated candidates without demonstrated experience relevant to some of these criteria are encouraged to apply and demonstrate their experience in a relevant space, and/or their ability to quickly develop new skills.

  • Experience or qualifications in STEM fields with a strong understanding of data science and AI.
  • Experience or understanding of managing branding and marketing through digital channels including web content.
  • Excellent social media skills with demonstrated success in online engagement.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency in graphic design highly regarded.
  • As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
