  • Position Summary:

    NTS Collaboration and Learning Spaces is looking for new students to join our team! As a Collaboration and Learning Spaces Student Technician you will work with full time employees to provide first class customer support and solve technological problems. Student duties include answering phones, diagnosing and resolving technology issues, assisting staff members with various projects, installing new technologies in learning and administrative spaces and troubleshooting the University's instance of Zoom with its users.     Duties:

    50%Answer phones, assist walk in customers, and troubleshoot university or student owned computers - Collaborate with Nanook Technology Services (NTS) Customer Support Services staff to assist with technology support tasks - Learn about all major consumer operating systems - Learn how to identify, repair, and upgrade technology hardware - Work on various projects as requested including Smart Classroom Technology buildsEssential

    50%Provide technical support, to troubleshoot under a variety of technically complex and stressful situations, providing solutions within standard procedures and guidelines. Sound technical interpretation and modification is required to quickly and effectively determine corrective procedures unassisted. Provide required assistance as necessary to correct various technical problems experienced during non-standard working hours. May require shift to be performed during non-standard hours, need to be flexible under changing circumstances. Follow up with written reports for all conferences worked using a variety of reporting tools.Essential

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    -Customer oriented and friendly individual who can deal with occasional stressful situations - Basic understanding of technology and major desktop and mobile operating systems - Interested and willing to learn about technology -Excellent communication and customer service skills. - Be able to communicate over the phone and video in a professional and courteous manner. -Work must be accomplished in an efficient manner especially in an unsupervised environment. -Must have the ability to communicate with customers using tact and discretion. - Demonstrated problem solving skills to resolve video problems, ability to identify, prioritize and resolve operational problems in a timely manner. - Follow up actions with written reports using a variety of web-based and written tools. - Shift may be required to be performed during non-standard business hours, with some flexibility. -Training for specific video conferencing technology will be provided

    Preferred Experience & Education:

    -Customer service, technical aptitude -Prior experience is desired but not required (NTS is willing to invest in training and career development) -Experience in the use of Windows operating system software.

    Required Experience & Education:

    -High school diploma or equivalent -UA student enrolled in the minimum of 6 credit hours -Experience sufficient to be able to learn skills in information systems technology and customer service. -Must have a valid Drivers License.

    Salary Information:

    This is a part-time, non-exempt student position.

    New hires will be placed on the Student Assistant Salary schedule, Grade 0002 Step 16 for $15.26/hr.
