  • About the Role This role will be the technical expert dedicated to optimising the University of Melbourne Research Cloud service. The role includes direct user support, system monitoring, and VM configuration (particularly with Windows systems). Swiftly resolving service requests and incidents is your mission, ensuring a seamless user experience. As a crucial member of the Cloud Services team, your commitment to exemplary customer service is key. Collaborate closely with RCS (Research Computing Services) and other units in Business Services, engaging with researchers and support teams to elevate our Cloud Solutions.

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enhance Cloud customer service support for UoM Research Cloud, HPC, and data storage services
  • Respond promptly to service requests, deploying system upgrades with minimal downtime
  • Monitor capacity and performance, fostering collaboration and effective communication with stakeholders
  • Contribute to a learning culture, acquiring new skills, and ensuring the seamless operation and optimisation of virtual machines in the RCS cloud infrastructure
  • Who we are looking for You will possess good knowledge of scripting languages, excellent Windows administration skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-centric focus. Preferably with previous experience within Universities, a core skillset, and a focus on supporting end-users. You excel in understanding and providing solutions to complex problems, demonstrating an analytical mindset and expertise in the area. Listening skills are a key asset in this role, emphasising the need for a logical and understanding approach to problem-solving beyond standard help desk functions.

    You will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Familiarity with support services such as ServiceNow, Freshdesk, RT, Zendesk, or similar
