Cloud Engineer (at the rank of IT Technician) in the Clinical Trials Centre (Ref: 524568)

The Clinical Trials Centre (HKU-CTC) is a leading clinical trials management platform established under the LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) and dedicated to managing and facilitating international-standard clinical trials on new drugs, medical devices and medical technologies. HKU-CTC offers long- term development opportunities to passionate talents who pursue career advancement and success.

We are seeking a high calibre programming professional to join our Digital Innovation Team as a Cloud Engineer.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions on public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, and Alibaba Cloud);
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery;
  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, security, and cost- efficiency;
  • Fully document cloud designs, technical standards and supporting procedures to ensure cloud solutions are embedded and understood by the technology team;
  • Recovery automation improves the reliability, availability, and performance of highly scaled cloud systems;
  • Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

    • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines;
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role;
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, ECS, Kubernetes);
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-function teams;
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).

    • The appointment will be made on a two-year fixed-term full-time contract, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
