Clothworkers' Textile Conservator

Pitt Rivers Museum, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PP

The Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums are looking for a specialist textile conservator to work on their extensive textile collections. This is a three- year post, funded by the Clothworkers' Company. The conservator will work closely with a collections specialist to assess and document the collections, working collaboratively with originating communities where possible and carrying out basic conservation treatments where necessary. The Clothworkers' Conservator of Textiles will be based in Oxford mainly off-site, in the new Collections Teaching and Research Centre (CTRC) though one of the initial projects will be assessments of textiles on display at the Pitt Rivers. The role is not suitable for remote working.

We're looking for a qualified textile conservator with experience of working on global textiles and an interest in balancing conservation and cultural care.

Interviews are expected to be on the 16th and 17th December

Note – there is no possibility of negotiating salary
