Clinical University Lecturer in Primary Care Dentistry/Honorary Specialty Dentist
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical University Lecturer in Primary Care Dentistry/Honorary Specialty Dentist at our Glasgow Dental Hospital and School which is the major dental referral and teaching centre in the West of Scotland based in the heart of the city centre of Glasgow. You will deliver an excellent student experience of undergraduate education in Clinical Dentistry by contributing to teaching, assessment and administration processes and to develop innovative approaches to teaching and educational scholarship.

Job Purpose
To deliver an excellent student experience of undergraduate education in Clinical Dentistry by contributing to teaching, assessment and administration processes and to develop innovative approaches to teaching and educational scholarship.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To play a key role in the delivery of teaching of Clinical Dentistry to undergraduate dental students. On average there are approximately 80-90 undergraduate students a year.
2. The main clinical duties are to provide supervision on undergraduate clinics to students in BDS 2,3,4 and 5.
3. To participate in the design and delivery of a range of teaching and assessment activities within Clinical Dentistry in Glasgow Dental Hospital & School for undergraduate students, in accordance with the teaching objectives of the Dental School. This would include delivery of tutorials in addition to clinical teaching.
4. To participate in the development of creative and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, ensuring that the educational opportunities available to students are maintained and significantly improved.
5. To provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support learning.
6. To undertake administrative duties associated with the delivery of undergraduate teaching.
7. To carry out other duties as assigned by the Head of Dental School and Director of Dental Education.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential
A1 Registrable qualification with the General Dental Council.
A2 Fellowship in Dental Surgery, MFDS from one of the Royal Surgical Colleges or equivalent.
Desirable
B1 Masters degree or Higher Research Degree.
B2 Hold, or working towards, a certificate in Academic Practice, or equivalent learning and teaching qualification.

C1 Ability to deliver research-informed teaching.
C2 Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
C3 Good IT skills including the ability to work in an online environment.
C4 Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
C5 Excellent presentation skills.
C6 Willingness and ability to work as part of a team.
Experience
Essential
E1 Minimum of 4 years post qualification with significant clinical experience in Clinical Dentistry.
Desirable
F1 Experience of delivering undergraduate teaching in Clinical Dentistry.
F2 Experience in academic assessment of dental students. F3 Experience of mentoring students and / or staff.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be on the Speciality Doctor Pay Scale £47,905 - £89,329 per annum.
An honorary clinic contract of appropriate seniority will be arranged by application to the NHS.
This post is full time to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months or until the substantive postholder returns.
