The School of Medicine at University of Galway are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate for part-time (0.25FTE), type A, Clinical Tutor post in Donegal Medical Academy. • Clinical Tutor in Surgery, Donegal Medical Academy, Part-Time (0.25FTE) – One-year fixed term The purpose of this post is to support the delivery of teaching to undergraduate medical students, course organisation and assessment of students' competence. In addition, the post-holders will have an opportunity to engage in research in medical education. The post would be suitable for work towards a higher degree in medical education. The post will be based in the Letterkenny Campus and the post-holder will carry out the duties of the post under the direction of the Dean of the Academy or of an authorised senior member of the staff of the School of Medicine. The post-holder will support the undergraduate teaching activities in the School of Medicine. They will work closely with similar post-holders in the disciplines of Peri-Operative and Acute Care and Internal Medicine as well as with clinical academic colleagues at University of Galway to provide co- ordinated development and delivery of specialist clinical education in the newly revised undergraduate medical programme. The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in research and be involved in the formation of research collaborations with other academic departments and clinical staff as appropriate. They will ideally have clinical teaching experience, but training will be provided. Support will be available, as appropriate, to aid in the development of specialist educational skills. A commitment to quality in teaching will be sought and an outline understanding of medical education theory and practice is essential. They will need to be able to work with colleagues from diverse disciplines. The successful applicant will be an employee of the University of Galway and will be appointed at the appropriate point on the Clinical Tutor salary. They will be a fully registered medical practitioner with the Irish Medical Council. Salary: the appointment will be made on the Clinical Tutor 1 salary scale: €66,872 to €78,748 per annum or Clinical Tutor 2: €79,785 to €97,648. The relevant salary scale will be determined based on candidate's experience and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the University's Remuneration policy.
