    York Trials Unit (YTU) is one of the UK's leading centres for the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials. Due to continued success, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Trials Data Management and Information Systems Manager to join YTU. The post offers the opportunity to be part of a large and successful multi-disciplinary Department, renowned for its methodological expertise and commitment to policy relevant research.

    YTU is a UKCRC registered trials unit undertaking national and international, scientifically rigorous, trials in a variety of areas whilst having a strong methodological portfolio associated with the conduct and analysis of trials. YTU undertake trials in a range of subject areas including surgery, mental health, musculoskeletal disorders, social care, education and public health.

    You will lead, manage and assist the data management and information systems teams (at least 18 staff) within YTU, providing leadership and direction for the development and continued improvement of data governance, data management and digital solutions as well as contributing to the planned strategic development of the Unit over the next few years.

    Role

    The YTU Clinical Trials Data Management and Information Systems Manager will provide leadership and direction for the development and continued improvement of data management services (e.g. REDCap and other solutions), data governance, digital solutions (e.g. e-Trial Master File, e-consent, Clinical Trial Management Systems) and contribute to the development of Information Systems of YTU over the coming years.

    The post holder will liaise with senior IT staff across the University of York to ensure the highest standards of data security, confidentially and accuracy for clinical trials in the YTU portfolio. The post holder will also work with other researchers to ensure the quality assurance of data management and information systems.

    Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
  • Degree in relevant discipline and/or relevant equivalent experience in clinical trials data management
  • Extensive recent knowledge of clinical data management systems in a clinical trials unit
  • Proven management skills in the specialist field of clinical operation systems, data governance, data stewardship, the data management lifecycle, data management etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft .Net Framework technologies and relevant programming languages
  • Thorough understanding of information systems and ability to maintain data management processes, software and database development projects ensuring compliance with regulatory standard and trial requirements
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to lead large scale projects
