Clinical Skills Tutor (E&S)

Job description

Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

We have vacancies for clinical skills tutors, fixed term for one academic year. These will be part time positions (0.2 to 0.8 FTE), to commence August / September 2024. These posts will be based in the Knowledge Spa, Truro, Cornwall.

About the role

The Faculty wishes to recruit part time Clinical Skills Tutors (Education and Scholarship) to support the delivery of all aspects of clinical skills including communication skills to years two to five of a five year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree.

The post will include delivery of predesigned sessions following the BMBS timetable to medical students.

About you

The successful applicants will possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by registration with GMC/NMC/HCPC, to develop teaching programmes, teach and support learning in this academic area. They will use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students. They will participate in and develop external networks, for example to contribute to student recruitment, facilitate outreach work, or build relationships for future activities.

The successful applicants will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching. They must be a team player. Ideally the applicants will maintain a clinical post in addition to this teaching post, keeping them as current as possible with the changing nature of healthcare and clinical procedures. Staff at this level may wish to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
