Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, Lao-Oxford-Mahosot Hospital- Wellcome Trust Research Unit (LOMWRU), Vientiane, Laos.

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow to join the Lao-Oxford- Mahosot Hospital-Wellcome Trust Research Unit (LOMWRU), within the University of Oxford, based in Laos.

You will be exposed to a wide variety of interesting clinical infection and related research e.g. melioidosis, rickettsial diseases, talaromycosis, arboviruses. You are encouraged to undertake your own research as well as participating in ongoing projects, supervising the clinical liaison and research work of Lao junior doctors and developing local capacity through teaching and training.

You will undertake a daily bench round in the microbiology laboratory of Mahosot Hospital and lead the departmental board and consulting ward rounds on a rostered basis. You will provide advice and support to the staff of the Lao Government Microbiology Laboratory of Mahosot Hospital and other partner organizations within Laos and internationally. Contribution to existing research projects and to teaching and training of local and visiting staff and of partner organisations is a key part of this role.

It is essential that you are medically qualified with specialist training in Medical Microbiology (may be combined with Infectious Diseases) and hold (or be able to obtain) a GMC registration (or equivalent body outside the UK). You will also hold or be able to obtain an honorary contract with the NHS and have a job plan. Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as evidence of decision making, problem solving, planning and organization
