Job Background

The Living Laboratory brings together a collaboration of partners to address the biggest challenge currently facing precision medicine: the safe and effective adoption of healthcare innovations into clinical practice for the benefit of patients.

Providing a collaborative and dynamic environment, within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus, the Living Laboratory, through seven exemplar projects, facilitates the co-development of ideas and innovations between industry, academia and healthcare. It will include technology that has the potential to improve patient outcomes, novel mechanisms that provide innovations that can deliver workflow optimisation within the NHS, support companies to develop and commercialise healthcare technology and make the site an attractive location for new precision medicine industries to locate all or part of their operations in Govan and Glasgow, creating new jobs, skills development opportunities and stimulating economic growth. The ultimate aim is to create mechanisms that facilitate the eventual adoption of precision medicine technology into clinical practice.

The Digital Health Validation Lab (DHVL) primary goal is to provide stakeholders in Digital Health technology a means to accelerate product development through incremental development of evidence appropriate to ensure they are safe, clinically effective and economically viable. The lab creates the environment allow digital health developers to assess their products along the entire development pathway, from determining feasibility and value of a product idea through to testing the safety and efficacy of a completed product.

The Digital Health Validation Lab offers a cooperative environment where industry, innovators and start-ups can securely access clinical resources and data, integrated within NHS systems to test and validate their innovations – at whatever stage their technologies are. The proximity with the QEUH enables new technologies to be trialled in clinical practice alongside existing technologies to establish relative effectiveness and accelerate their route to clinical adoption and to market.
