About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Educator, in either Physiotherapy or Exercise Physiology , to join us at Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH) to make a real and positive difference to the education of our students and the future of regional healthcare in Queensland.
SQRH has established an aged care education and training hub in partnership with Southern Cross Care Queensland (SCCQ) in Chinchilla. Southern Cross Care Queensland has purpose-built a contemporary aged care home in Chinchilla. Designed to accommodate 81 residents, the home offers a range of amenities, including treatment rooms, a chapel, and a hairdressing salon. By late 2025, the adjoining Health and Wellness Precinct is set to be completed. This exciting addition will feature clinical treatment rooms, a dedicated rehabilitation and exercise space, and a welcoming café, creating a vibrant hub for both residents and the wider community.
The aim of the partnership between SQRH and SCCQ is to provide high quality clinical placement opportunities for nursing and allied health students within the Chinchilla region. The program involves working alongside SCCQ, and other providers in the region, to develop placement opportunities and innovative service-learning programs to enhance student learning whilst providing high quality health service provision.
As the Clinical Educator , you will support effective, high quality rural training experiences for pre-registration Allied Health students based in Chinchilla and the surrounding region. In collaboration with both facility staff and the wider health community, you will be responsible for managing the service, which is delivered by either Physiotherapy or Exercise Physiology students and supervised by you. You will have the opportunity to actively engage and participate in research which is aimed at contributing to an evidence-base within a rural health agenda.
This position is primarily based within the SCCQ aged care home in Chinchilla however placement support and facilitation may also include locations within Hospital and Health Services, General Practices and Community Package Providers within the region. You will be joining a wider Clinical Education Team based across the Darling Downs and South West Queensland and as such, travel may be required at times to work from other sites across the Darling Downs and South West Queensland region.
