Summary of Post

This position is funded by the eHealthHub for Cancer, an all-island emerging hub of excellence funded by the Irish Higher Education Authority HEA Shared Island North-South Research Programme. The eHealthHub for Cancer partners with clinical and academic researchers in UL, QUB, UCD, RCSI, UG and UCC.

The overall aim of this Cancer Data Coordinator post, based in Beaumont Hospital, is to ensure the efficient and accurate collection of breast and blood cancer patient data suitable for integration with the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) common data model. The post holder will work with members of the Surgery and Pathology Departments to ensure that data is collated and inputted into a database. The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of the eHealthHub for Cancer hub to support the mission and vision of the programme.

Specifically, the duties of the post are:

  • Retrieve relevant patient clinical data from hospital records and systems
  • Input data accurately into database
  • Liaise with academic researchers to facilitate integration of data into the standardised Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) common data model
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the requirements of information governance and Complies with the Data Protection Act 2018, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and hospital policies & procedures in the processing of data
  • Qualifications – (Essential):

  • A postgraduate degree in cancer biology/nursing/relevant related subject
  • Knowledge & Experience:

  • A clinical background/ knowledge of cancer services is desirable but not mandatory
  • Experience working in a clinical environment or as part of a clinical team
  • Experience managing healthcare data
  • Clinical database management
