The Turner School of Accountancy offers programs for students at various stages of their professional accounting careers. Our programs provide conceptual and technical knowledge in the accounting and business areas, serving as a foundation for accounting career development. The Belk College's undergraduate accounting program is accredited by AACSB International, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and by the Council on Post- Secondary Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for baccalaureate degree programs in accounting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Turner School of Accountancy in the Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking to fill a Clinical Assistant Professor / Clinical Associate Professor / Clinical Professor / Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Accounting position, for an August 2023 start date. This position is full-time and non-tenure track. Candidates should be able to educate a diverse population of students in various accounting courses including two or more of the following, managerial, financial, auditing, tax, and accounting information systems. Prior teaching experience, especially in large classroom settings, is preferred. The teaching load is four courses per semester. In addition to the teaching responsibilities, qualified candidates must be prepared to provide leadership in student organizations, serve on committees, and engage in sufficient professional activities to maintain currency in the field.
All non-tenured faculty are encouraged to engage in a program of service appropriate to their discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to service may include but are not limited to: service to the administration and governance of the University, public service, and service to the profession. For a Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor position, the candidate must engage in activities to stay academically and professionally qualified for accreditation purposes, including conducting research in a relevant discipline and authoring or co- authoring papers published in peer-reviewed journals. Lecturers and Senior Lecturers must engage in activities to stay professionally qualified for accreditation purposes. UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
Candidates for the Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor position must hold either a PhD or DBA in accounting or a related field or ABD in the process of obtaining a PhD or DBA in accounting or a related field. In order to be appointed at the Clinical Rank, the doctorate must be completed prior to appointment.
Candidates for the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position must hold a Master's degree in accounting, or MBA with concentration in accounting with at least 18 hours of graduate accounting coursework. Appointment as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer depends on qualifications and experience.
Experience working with diverse student populations is preferred.
CPA or CMA preferred for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer candidates.
