The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences are recruiting for a Clinical Skills and Simulation Technician.

Healthcare simulation is a fusion of healthcare and technology. Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) is a fast-developing area of adult education with many new technologies which enhance learning platforms as well as new modalities such as Virtual Reality. This role will enable you to support quality simulation education experiences which will allow healthcare professionals to enhance their individual and team performance, improving patient safety and patient outcomes.

    What will you be doing?

    Based at our Swindon site, as a technician, you will be working alongside knowledgeable and experienced staff and educators who offer courses to healthcare students. It is expected that with training you will gain experience recreating the clinical areas to ensure an immersive and realistic simulation, this would include deploying part task trainers, undertaking the scenario programming and subsequent operation of human patient simulators. As a team leader, you will be overseeing stock control, new equipment acquisitions, team queries and other relevant administrative tasks required in the day to day running of the Test of Competency Centre for Nursing. Occasional travel to our Oxford site will be required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good time management, organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, MS Office, and a willingness to learn to use new software.
