CEAM Research Associate in Finance (Fixed Term)

Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) leverages the power of academia for real world impact to transform individuals, organisations and society. Since 1990, Cambridge Judge has forged a reputation as a centre of rigorous thinking and high-impact transformative education, situated within one of the world's most prestigious research universities, and in the heart of the Cambridge Cluster, the most successful technology entrepreneurship cluster in Europe.

We are looking to recruit a post-doctoral researcher to work with the Centre for Endowment Asset Management (CEAM) of Cambridge Judge Business School. CEAM is a research and education centre based within Cambridge Judge. CEAM is dedicated to furthering research and understanding of investment management for long-horizon investors, with a particular focus on sustainable and responsible investing; corporate governance/voting; long-run risk and return in traditional and alternative asset classes; factor investing and asset allocation; and financial market history.

This role is designed for a post-doctoral researcher with a PhD in Finance and a focus on empirical methods, particularly in the areas of sustainable finance, responsible investing and/or biodiversity finance. The role will sit within the CEAM. The role holder will become a member of the CJBS Finance Subject Group and will work closely with the research faculty leading CEAM (Professor David Chambers, Professor Elroy Dimson, Professor Oguzhan Karakas, and Professor Pedro Saffi), developing, conducting and supporting research and data analysis of on-going and/or new research projects.

One of the primary elements of this role would be to support ongoing research focused on sustainable finance, responsible investing and biodiversity finance, a body of work currently being led by Professor Oguzhan Karakas and supported by CEAM. This work broadly aims to explore the key relations between sustainability and investment/financing decisions and outcomes. The successful candidate will also be expected have an active role in identifying new research pipelines that focus on improving the understanding of sustainable/biodiversity finance. The responsibilities of the role will include producing working papers to be distributed via SSRN.com, developing research for publication in journals of the highest international standard, and presenting research in seminars and conferences that CEAM organizes.

The person appointed will have time to continue developing their own research and will be expected to publish in leading international journals. There are no teaching obligations for this position. A generous research budget will be provided.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate good technical skills including quantitative empirical finance and financial econometrics, and a strong commitment to research and publications in top refereed academic journals. Good time management and planning skills with a commitment to delivery are a pre-requisite of this role. In addition, the candidate should be an enthusiastic team member who is driven and committed. The role holder is also expected to liaise with colleagues across the Cambridge Finance community, attend regular seminars and build a network of contacts.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
