Job Summary

The CDL Examination Director reports to the Vice President for Workforce and Continuing Education and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Driver Examinations. The Director's responsibilities include 1) supervising CDL examiners, 2) assigning students cleared for examination to an examiner, 3) assisting with recruiting and hiring employees, 4) assisting the VP for Workforce Development and Continuing Education to develop training as needed, 5) provide orientation and instruction for new CDL examiners, 6) monitoring the performance of examiners, 7) monitoring the performance of CDL examinations, and 8) other duties as assigned.

The CDL Examination Director works in coordination with the Vice President for Workforce Development and Continuing Education to create new examination centers including visiting new sites, inspecting facilities for possible use as an examination/training center, and creating new driver examination routes. Responsible for maintaining constant awareness of new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations that impact commercial driving examination and conducts faculty development on emerging issues. The CDL Examination Director coordinates the work of all CDL examiners to ensure an efficient and effective operations of the Commercial Driving Program and Examination Center. Follow established college policies and procedures. The Director will complete other duties as assigned.

The Director will be required to work indoors and outdoors. Outdoor weather may include inclement weather conditions. Works in close proximity to heavy equipment and loud noises. Some office work requiring computer entry skills.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Current CDL Class A as a Certified third-party Skills and Knowledge test provider. At least one year teaching experience in a college setting. Minimum of four years of prior management experience. Ten years of CDL driving experience. Work effectively with parents, students, faculty and staff in professional manner.

Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.

Background in planning, scheduling, and managing projects and assignments. Promote a positive the campus image.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, listen, and see. The employee is occasionally required to sit, lift, push, bend, climb, pull and carry objects up to 40 pounds. This employee frequently required to stand for extended periods and climb 8 feet or more.

SALARY $72,800.00 Plus Excellent Benefits Work Hours 40 hours a week. Some evenings maybe required.
